Jo has been a financial services professional for nearly 30 years and has won awards for her work. She understands the gaps between what financial services offer and what people actually want and need. She uses her experience as a trained money coach to provide advice to a wide range of demographics.
The founder of Deki, the well-known Bristol-based charity, will discuss how they help to create and support entrepreneurs all across the world so they can provide for their families, send their children to school and turn their lives around. They do this through the distribution of capital from willing lenders who are looking for an impactful way to invest their money. This talk will be both informative and inspiring to explore the lives they have affected through the projects they have supported.
Our keynote speaker, Ian Townsend, has been Chief Executive of Bristol Green Capital Partnership CIC since June 2016. BGCP CIC is an independent organisation whose vision is a sustainable Bristol with a high quality of life for all, with a cross-sector network of several hundred organisations that share this vision, including businesses, the public sector, charities and community organisations. Originally founded in 2007, BGCP became a Community Interest Company in 2014, then contributed to Bristol European Green Capital 2015, before evolving into its current form to ensure it ‘didn’t stop there’.
Ian will discuss the sustainability challenges facing Bristol and how we might invest together to Make Bristol a better place for all. He will draw on his experience to date and talk about how learnings might be applied to future projects for innovative wealth creation.
On 27th February we welcomed our founder members to our base in Bristol to find out more on how we can work together, and what they wanted from The Royall Wealth Club. The feedback received was very positive and will help us grow the club with purpose for the future, as well as helping to shape our quarterly events.
Following the meeting, members attended an exclusive pre-screening of the film – Viceroy’s House – starring Gillian Anderson & Hugh Bonneville, at the Watershed in Bristol. At The Royall Wealth Club, we believe that it is not all about money but enjoying life too. Therefore we see that it is important for our members to socialise with fun opportunities such as this.
Over 70 people listened to expert speakers on the subject of Community Investing.
Derrick Royall outlined the structure of The Royall Wealth Club with inspirational quarterly events, unique investment opportunities and member discounts with international as well as local businesses.
This was followed by an inspirational interview with John Pontin sharing his background and experiences in redeveloping Bristol’s harbour side over the past 40 years.
John shared his passion for sustainability with George McGavin, (zoologist and BBC Presenter) who previewed The Converging World’s new video showing how you can combine renewable energy with reforestation in India to offset your carbon footprint.
This was all complimented by entertainment from up and coming folk artist, Fraser Anderson, who added an additional dimension to the evening.
We will be following up on this event with video interviews with the speakers from the evening in the near future.
Feedback has been very positive such as Steve Livings, President of Bristol Breakfast Rotary Club,
“Many thanks for a really interesting evening. I found all the speakers thought provoking; I was truly inspired by John Pontin’s story, a real ‘rags to riches’ tale and someone who obviously has his fellow beings at heart.
I believe the film and story about The Converging World would really appeal to all people with a social conscience. Derrick, your presentation was highly polished and I wish you every success. Once again, many thanks for an inspirational evening.”
