We’ve all been there. You get back from holiday, sit back at your desk, look out the window and sigh. There must be a better way to work; I wish I did something more enjoyable and meaningful.
So why don’t you? Why don’t you just pack in your job and do something more interesting and rewarding instead?
Well, life isn’t like that, is it? We have responsibilities, we need to feed our family, pay the bills, nice holidays, nice car, nice house. But how much of this is essential? There is more to money and life than just acquiring bigger and “better” things.
But what if you could? What if you could afford to change what you do, or even afford to do less of what you don’t like, to make more time for what you actually enjoy doing?
Often, we just need to look at our lives and focus in another way. We may be spending too much on “too much stuff” or spending “mindlessly”. Think about the money you have spent over the past week, month or even year that was essential. Then think about what you have spent that was not really that important. Quite a lot I imagine.
How many of you actually know what you are spending on different items each month. If we all controlled our spending more effectively we could save more, or work less.
How many of us have a “Wealth Creation Plan”? That’s right, a plan to create more wealth. Not many.
As we have highlighted before, people tend to move towards what they regularly think about. If you have a plan to create wealth your mind starts to focus on creating wealth. Gradually, with discipline, you can create a plan to start hitting your goals. This might simply be to raise your education level in a field of specialism that can improve your earning potential. It might be a plan to invest more of your income rather than frittering it (if you are lucky enough to have spare income of course).
If we freed up our minds from the daily stress test then perhaps we might be able to become more creative. This could lead to more ideas to help start that new business venture you have always dreamed of. Many have found that finding a greater purpose increases their motivation hugely. This purpose seems to work better if it isn’t financial; the money seems to flow anyway, and often at much higher levels than just focusing on increasing your personal wealth.
